39-year-old pop diva Mariah Carey is wasting any time with her new husband Nick Cannon. Just days after the news hit that the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter was married in a secret island wedding, Carey has revealed her plans to start a family immediately.

"It’s part of the whole purpose of getting married. I’d just want our children to have the best childhood and upbringing they possibly could," Carey told the New York Daily News.

The singer unveiled a "Mrs. Cannon" tattoo on her neck to talk show queen Oprah Winfrey last month. When the news of the surprise wedding sufraced, Winfrey admitted that she should have probed Carey more on the tattoo.

"I don’t think anyone realised what we already knew, that we were going to get married," Carey added. Oprah confidant, Gayle King was also privy to the hush-hush relationship before most of the world was aware.

For his part, 27-year-old Cannon was reportedly at a loss for words when the big moment came.

"I haven’t been shy in years, but I was speechless. I was elated, but I was thinking, ‘Don’t pass out,’" he said.
