T.I. to Plead Guilty to Weapons Charges

Rapper T.I. will reportedly plead guilty to multiple weapons charges today. He is scheduled to enter his plea at 1:30 p.m. today at the federal courthouse in Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

When he is sentenced at a later date, T.I., born Clifford Harris Jr.,faces about a year of prison time.
He will also likely devote a large chunk of time to community service and speaking to youth groups across the country.

T.I.'s defense team has been engaged in plea negotiations with prosecutors for the past several weeks. U.S. District Court Judge Charles Pannell Jr., who will preside over today's plea, must approve the deal.

The entertainer was arrested in a sting in a Midtown Atlanta parking lot last October, as he allegedly tried to buy the weapons, including three machine guns and two silencers, just hours before he was to attend the BET Hip-Hop Awards ceremony. He was indicted the same month on weapons charges that include illegally possessing three machine guns and two silencers and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
